NEW YORK -- Michael Rubin did not always plan on becoming a musician. It actually all started with his love for a video game and an offhand remark from his father.
"I got started because I used to play Guitar Hero. And one day, my dad was like, how about you just pick up a real guitar and quit wasting your time," he said.
Since that moment in his childhood, Rubin has come a long way, having started multiple bands including most recently, King Falcon.
King Falcon has comprised various members since its inception in 2020, but currently includes Rubin on lead guitar and vocals, Joe Conserva on vocals and bass, Dipayan "Dip" Chakraborty on drums and Sergio Ripa on guitar.
"I feel very fortunate to have all the guys in the band now, and they sort of fell in at the right time. I feel like I assembled The Avengers," Rubin explained.
For the band, major milestones have included opening for bands like The Struts and Sublime with Rome, as well as just seeing their fans have a good time at their shows.
"I think packing a house out in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is pretty crazy," said Conserva.
"It was packed. And the craziest part for me is," Rubin added, "I was looking out and everyone knew the songs."
The band's newest song, Plastic Crown, is set to be released on June 11th.
"[It's] the one that we're really excited about because it's the first song that were putting out with this group of guys," Rubin said.
